About the roleThe Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive capital cost estimates for major studies and projects. In addition to this, the role will review and prepare capital estimates for benchmarking, potential life of mine plan options which require capital and support Business Development due diligence activities.
Reporting directly to the General Manager Project Delivery, you will be accountable for the following:
Demonstrate behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining values.Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of capital estimates in accordance with the Capital Investment System (CIS) for all phases of the study/project to the appropriate level of accuracy for the phase.Develop and maintain an estimating database/system in industry recognised estimating software.Carry out validation, verification and benchmarking estimates using industry norms and by comparing with previous estimates, outcome costs and vendor prices.Provide capital estimates to support Long Term Planning as part of the annual life of mine planning process.Review and provide detailed capital estimates for Business Development due diligence activities.Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure accuracy.Maintain documentation of cost estimates (Basis of Estimate).Ensure estimates comply with industry standards and regulations.Liaise with peers, clients and other third parties in relation to developing estimates.Monitor current competitive prices, new techniques and cost trends.Review and update the CIS to align with best practice for cost estimation.About youTo be successful in this role you are an analytical and communicative person with an appropriate balance of business and technical acumen. Furthermore, you will have the following qualifications competencies and experience:
Recognised tertiary qualification in Engineering, Mining Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.10+ years' experience on large mining and/or oil and gas projects either as part of the owners team or as an EPCM contractor.Significant experience as an estimator within the mining/minerals industry.High capability user of industry recognised estimating software and Microsoft 365 (Office) suite of software.Strong understanding of mining operations and project management.Excellent organisational and time management abilities.Strong attention to detail.At Evolution, as our name suggests, change and transformation is in our DNA.
