They are looking for someone who is passionate about the estimation job.
It doesn't matter to them whether you've been doing it for 5 years or 15 years as long as you love what you do, and it shows in your tenders—preferably in your tender-to-award ratio as well.
Ideally, you would have estimated tenders for commercial and residential projects worth around $10-30m throughout your career. Of course, over $50M would also be highly desired but not essential.
The aim is that you develop into the company's estimating manager over time. This role is ideal for a senior who wants to become part of the business's strategy and exert influence at a higher level than you currently can.
Role The role pays up to $200K, depending on experience, but this is flexible; it's entirely about the right person. Fitting the business and being passionate about your profession is truly what matters.You will be based in their beautiful office outside the CBD in leafy surroundings where no expense was spared when building it.They'd like you to have a Construction Management degree or other relevant tertiary education, but it is no deal breaker. Some of the best estimators in the industry come from trade backgrounds and develop themselves into the role, which is fine as well.Exceptional construction knowledge across many sectors is essential and crucial for success in the position. As they are a turnkey multiple disciplinary builder, you'd need a breadth of experience.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. It's not a sales estimator role pursued, so you don't need to be an extrovert, but being able to negotiate, deal, and maintain excellent relationships with subcontractors would be a large part of your job position.Management The only people you'd report to are the business directors. They are two of the most experienced construction professionals in South Australia in real estate and property development.
Both are responsible for directing, financing, managing, operating, and leading over twenty $20M—$50M turn-key projects throughout Adelaide over the past two decades.
Not to mention, several of them were personally estimated, tendered, and won by them, so you'd be entering a business where you'd have mentors who have seen it all and done it all before you at the highest level.
