TRANSFORMING CHALLENGES INTO ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS About the Role As a Senior Engineer within our Development Infrastructure & Growth team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical advice, assessment, and decision-making for all aspects of development works.
This position involves collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team, attending pre-lodgement meetings, and ensuring that engineering plans and construction works align with Council standards and policies.
You will also mentor and coach junior staff, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and manage complex engineering tasks related to the growth and development of the Toowoomba Region.
Key Responsibilities Engineering Assessments: Review and provide expert input on development applications, checking submissions, preparing reports for Council and delegated authorities, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards.Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders, offering technical advice on engineering aspects of development applications and attending pre-lodgement meetings.Compliance Checks: Examine engineering plans, inspect works during construction, and ensure adherence to Council's standards and policies.Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior engineers and team members, providing feedback and leadership to enhance work quality and performance.Conflict Resolution: Handle difficult or sensitive matters with professionalism, applying effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies.Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process enhancements, system development, and the creation of best practices for handling engineering aspects of development projects.Customer Service: Deliver high-quality, customer-focused services, ensuring developers and stakeholders receive clear, timely, and accurate advice.The Development Infrastructure & Growth Team Join an enthusiastic and dynamic team playing a vital role in facilitating the growth of the Toowoomba Region, an exciting area with expanding development opportunities.

Essential Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university with extensive relevant experience in development engineering.Corporate membership of Engineers Australia (or eligibility for membership).WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 or equivalent, or willingness to obtain before starting.2.
Organisational Skills:
Ability to manage complex projects, develop operational procedures, and apply expertise to deliver significant outcomes.3.
Technical Skills and Knowledge: Proven experience in civil engineering, including design and construction related to subdivision and development projects.
Ability to approve plans, conduct inspections, and integrate engineering, planning, and compliance.In-depth knowledge of relevant planning and development legislation (Planning Act 2016) and technical standards.4.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with a commitment to providing helpful, clear, and accurate advice in a supportive manner.Ability to develop relationships across teams, mentor junior staff, and foster a cooperative team environment to achieve results.A commitment to continuous improvement, both personally and within the team and processes.Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a customer-focused culture.5.
