Key responsibilities
The purpose of the Senior Engineer (Civil) is to project manage the delivery of pre-construction and/or construction contracts for multiple road infrastructure projects through the provision of extensive technical expertise.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Manage the activities of the project and budget in the relevant project phase and monitor the provision of services against the budget.
• Act as the Contract Administrator's Representative in the administration of nominated contracts
• Undertake reviews of the contract documents, analyse offers, programming preconstruction, construction, and maintenance activities.
• Determine the engineering requirements, including materials, critical components, and systems, involved in supporting project management and delivery.
• Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines, and legislative requirements necessary for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects.
• Ensure all quality management procedures are adhered to in order to facilitate the delivery of road projects to a high and consistent standard for both Transport and Main Roads and clients.
• Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to transport infrastructure delivery activities.
• In managing projects, you will have the responsibility to plan, assign, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff that would include encouraging teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
• The employee may be required to mentor and supervise the work of non-RPEQs
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position
• A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence

• Project management skills and experience in successfully executing projects that meet cost, time, scope, and quality expectations.
• Prioritises projects and tasks efficiently, in line with team commitments.
• Applies an understanding of contract administration to administer basic contracts.
• Independently applies a professional approach to civil engineering practice and guides others.
• Evaluates possible solutions and takes appropriate steps to mitigate risks.
