We are a company on the move and with forecasted growth of L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems Australia we are now seeking to hire 2 Senior Embedded Software Engineers on a 12 month contract who will be responsible for architecting and developing embedded software applications, and participating in the entire software development life cycle.
Candidates are required to have a good knowledge base of engineering principles, theories and techniques and a passion for relevant new technologies. We are mission focused, agile and take innovation seriously.
Responsibilities will include: Take responsibility for large and complex areas of the software architecture for multiple software systems.Ownership of software development schedule and reporting to project/customer stakeholders.Develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ 17.Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, systems engineering, agile development, review, testing, integration, and verification.Presenting design details during customer reviews to a mix of participants with and without software engineering knowledge.Collaborate effectively with both software and other engineering disciplines as well as management, to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements as efficiently as possible.Mentor less experienced software engineers and help them develop good software development and debugging skills.Write and maintain both internal and deliverable documentation, either directly or through supervision of contractors.Provide Engineering support to manufacturing as required.Participate in demo activities for the purpose of sharing knowledge.Maintain a continuous improvement mindset.Essential Requirements: Degree in Software, Electronics or Electrical Engineering or similar.7+ years' experience in similar role.Experience architecting complex software for embedded systems, adhering to requirements, with a structured verification approach.Experience in developing software for microcontrollers in C++ bare metal or with RTOS, working with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN etc.Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to development processes.Excellent computer skills.Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.Desirable Requirements: An existing NV1 Security clearance.Experience using the Xilinx Zynq SoCs.Experience in developing firmware in VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGAs.Experience in developing software to adhere to protocol standards.Experience in developing mission critical software.Ability to read and review schematics, identify issues with hardware designs from a software development viewpoint and make recommendations on HW designs.Experience developing custom peripheral interfaces on programmable logic.Experience with complex algorithm design on programmable logic with space constraints.Experience with python or another scripting language for the purposes of emulation of hardware or software verification.About Us L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems Australia is a Brisbane based subsidiary of L3Harris and part of our ICI Division.
