South32's corporate office is based in the heart of Perth's CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, External Affairs, Sustainability Strategy, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, Legal and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a permanent full-time position based in our Perth offices; however, Worsley and Brisbane will be considered for the ideal candidate. We understand and value the benefits of flexibility and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home).

The role of Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer will orchestrate complex projects by uniting internal teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver exceptional results. You'll champion innovative designs while implementing critical Safety in Design principles as the linchpin between Major Projects teams and Operations. You'll undertake periodical site visits to ensure proper implementation and maintain stakeholder relationships. Your expertise will guide projects from concept to completion, ensuring seamless execution that meets the highest safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Reporting to the Lead – Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer, key responsibilities include:
• Lead vital electrical and instrumentation projects, working alongside experienced engineering teams to deliver robust and innovative industrial solutions
• Provide strategic oversight of ESP deliverables and maintain quality standards throughout project lifecycles
• Review and optimise technical specifications and critical design documentation (Basis of Design, P&ID's and SLD's, etc.) to meet operational requirements and maintenance accessibility
• Guide junior engineers while managing key stakeholder relationships with operations teams and contractors
ABOUT YOU You will ideally have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
• Experienced Electrical Engineer with ten years of hands-on expertise across industrial systems, from process control to power distribution
• Seasoned in modern automation and design tools, including SCADA, PLCs, Power*Tools and AutoCAD
• Natural safety advocate with a collaborative approach to implementing high-voltage systems and engineering changes while ensuring quality standards
• Skilled project coordinator with a talent for bringing teams together and adapting to evolving priorities
• Creative problem-solver who enjoys tackling complex challenges with a thoughtful, strategic mindset
• Engaging communicator who builds strong relationships across all organisational levels while upholding professional excellence
Qualifications for this position are:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Preferably registered, eligible for or working towards engineering registration/chartered status
