The Commission is an independent statutory body that promotes improvement in policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and young people. It has a particular focus on Aboriginal children and young people and all children and young people in out-of-home care and youth justice systems. The Commission is one of the regulators for the Child Safe Standards (CSS) and is the regulator for the Reportable Conduct Scheme (RCS). Flexible work and hybrid working models are encouraged and supported by the Commission.
The Senior Education and Capacity Building Advisor, reporting to the Team Leader - Education and Capacity Building, takes an active role in the delivery of the CSS and RCS capacity building program.
Drawing on their policy analysis, adult learning and presentation skills, and working with other team members, the Senior Advisor adapts complex legislation into accessible and practical guidance suitable for its diverse intended audience, and delivers this content across a range of mediums, including face to face presentations, webinars, written resources and online and web materials.
The Senior Education and Capacity Building Advisor will provide high quality policy advice, formulate strategies for regulated sectors, develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships internal and external to the Commission, and support joined up working across the Commission to achieve organisation objectives. Project management and data literacy skills are required to inform work and track progress.
At times this position requires engagement with challenging and confronting subject matter related to preventing child abuse.
In this role you will: Actively contribute to the development of a positive and high-performing team culture, including identifying and implementing opportunities to improve teamwork practices.Undertake effective analysis and interpretation of contemporary research and CSS and RCS policy, legal and operational frameworks to inform content development.Identify emerging industry or sector challenges impacting on the successful achievement of key objectives relevant to the implementation of the standards and formulate strategies for resolution.Research and propose innovations in the effective transfer of knowledge and information to support organisations to comply with the CSS and RCS.Present content in a range of delivery formats, including face to face presentations and forums, webinars, and other online technologies.Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of the CSS and RCS capacity building program.Contribute to the development of targeted resources and tools that will enable diverse industry and sector organisations to achieve implementation.Prepare and present advice through materials including briefings, reports, discussion papers and responses on policy and operational issues.Develop, maintain and monitor systems for managing education and capacity building workflow and projects.Provide back up to the Commission's general enquiry line as needed.Act as a coach and mentor for the broader team and other staff at the Commission.About You An experienced and knowledgeable child safety professional with extensive expertise in leading the development of authoritative advice and guidance for stakeholders across multiple formats, including face-to-face and webinar delivery.You have strong engagement and presentation skills and ability to translate complex content into user friendly guidance.A highly organised person with an ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and produce high-quality content for multiple channels.As our ideal candidate, you will: Thrive working collaboratively and with initiative.Be a strategic thinker and have a continuous improvement approach.Have excellent written and verbal skills.Enjoy engaging with stakeholders.What we can offer you: Flexible working arrangements.A friendly and supportive working environment.Training and development opportunities.Free access to the building's lifestyle centre including a gym, secure bicycles storage, shower rooms with hair dryers, straighteners, ironing board and fresh towels.Free Parcel Lockers – no more missing deliveries or rushing home to meet the courier.How to Apply: Please include a resume and covering letter.
