PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
You will provide high-level support and advice to the Chief Finance Officer, executives, and business units, develop and coordinate the Directorate's financial reporting, budget process, and performance management and more.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Provide high-level support and advice to the Chief Finance Officer, executives, Finance and Budget colleagues, and other business units in the areas of strategic financial management, budget preparation and performance, and financial accounting.
Contribute to the strategic direction of the Directorate and to continuous improvement in budget and performance management and financial procedures and reporting.
Undertake a lead role in the coordination and preparation in one or more of the following Directorate financial responsibilities: capital and asset reporting, internal and external budget preparation and allocations; accountability indicator reporting; monthly management reporting; annual financial statements.
Provide leadership and manage a team to effectively deliver client-focused advice and support to a range of business units within the Directorate regarding budget preparation, financial and performance management, and reporting.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Demonstrated experience in the application of complex accounting standards and principles, and public sector financial requirements e.g.
demonstrated experience in the preparation of financial statements and a range of other financial reports.
Experience in managing public sector financial resources.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to persuade and influence opinion and prepare high-level reports and other written material.
Prior experience in leading, directing, and guiding a team whilst contributing to continuous improvement.
Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering quality client services to internal and external stakeholders.
A degree with a major in accounting or equivalent is highly desirable.
Ability to develop and manipulate financial modelling tools and use complex spreadsheets and TM1.
Membership of either Australian professional accounting bodies (CPA or ICA) is also highly desirable.
