Senior Direct Tax Advisor - 12 month contract Job Summary As part of Strategy & Finance, your mission will be to help drive our shared strategic vision. Enable the business by providing commercial advice and managing key strategic, operational and financial risks.
Our highly regarded Global Tax Team works closely with a wide range of teams to guide and empower our business - engaging with all business lines, M&A, legal, treasury, investor relations, corporate accounting, internal audit, risk and more. We help ensure Telstra sets the right strategy and delivers for our customers, our people and our shareholders.
The role with us Reporting to the Principal, Domestic Taxation, you will play a pivotal role in the implementation of the tax strategy and management of tax risks in Telstra's Australian business.
As a driven, experienced and hands-on Senior Tax Advisor, this 12 month contract role will provide an opportunity for you to:
Research and provide specialist tax advice to the business in relation to major initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, divestments, structuring, restructuring, rationalisations and capital management, supporting commercial decision making. Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors as required. Assist with managing Australian Taxation Office Top 100 reviews and engagement. Collaborate with colleagues in our experienced global Tax Team to identify and manage all tax risks and opportunities appropriately. Assist with the preparation of tax updates to the Audit & Risk Committee and other key stakeholders. Support the Tax Compliance Team to ensure tax compliance and reporting deliverables accurately reflect taxation advice. Ensure adherence to Telstra's tax risk governance framework in all tax matters. About you What you need to succeed:
A degree in commerce or law and may be CA/CPA qualified. Solid experience in a Big 4, law firm or industry environment. Deep Australian tax advisory experience. Strong background in corporate taxation law, tax practices, and compliance. Excellent communication and influencing skills. Strong stakeholder management skills.
