Recent rapid growth has created an exciting opportunity for a Group Accountant to join the business, to become an integral part of the Management Team and help drive the business forward to achieve its strategic goals.
There are currently four operating businesses making up the Rohde Group : IP Rohde & Co. – a large cropping and sheep enterprise located at Tarlee; Rohde Egg Co. – a free range egg farm and egg processing operation based at Tarlee; Blewitt Springs Free Range Eggs – a free range egg farm located in Blewitt Springs; and Rohde Rearing – a chicken rearing joint venture.
The group has been producing free range eggs for over 50 years with RSPCA and Free-Range accreditation.
To support the growing business operations, Rohde Group has a warehouse and office located at Thebarton, in Adelaide where this role will primarily be based.
About the Role The new role of Group Accountant has been created due to our continuing growth and diversification and will be based at our Thebarton Warehouse and Office.
As the Group Accountant, you will be expected to fully understand the operations of the businesses, and so ad-hoc travel to the operating businesses will be expected; a travel allowance will be provided to cover costs.
A commencement date in January 2025 would be preferred, but we are happy to negotiate this with the successful candidate.
Reporting to the General Manager and the owners, you will be an integral part of the business, managing all financial and accounting aspects of the group and working with the General Manager and Management Team on strategic growth initiatives.
Responsibilities Overall responsibility for accounting functions, overseeing accounts receivable, credit control, accounts payable, inventory, payroll, asset registers, etc.
Management of month end processes and preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial reports.
Work with the external accountant in respect of compliance, financial governance, year-end accounts, etc.
Preparation of and ongoing monitoring of annual budgets.
Management of cashflow (short and long term).
Treasury and finance management.
Continual development and maintenance of financial controls, procedures, and process improvements.
Assessment and implementation of relevant software and systems that are advantageous to the business in terms of reporting, business analytics, etc.
Research and perform financial modelling for new opportunities, as required.
Working with and as part of a small, hands-on administration team.
Requirements of the Role At least 3 years' experience in a similar role, or equivalent relevant professional practice experience looking for a move into commerce.
Degree qualified in accounting or commerce.
IPA, CA or CPA qualifications (or currently studying similar qualifications).
Ability to lead and oversee a small finance team.
Strong IT, Office, and spreadsheet skills with the ability to work with differing systems.
Enterprise Reporting systems and/or BI experience would be advantageous.
A positive person who likes to take on a challenge, manage shifting priorities, and get results.
Curious with a can-do attitude.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Honest with a high level of ethics and understanding of confidentiality.
A capability to make real contributions to the Management Team.
