We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join our team. This position will support the Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture (RRJV), a 50/50 joint venture between Downer and CPB Contractors to undertake major upgrades and replacement of existing Defence infrastructure and facilities.
The Senior Design Manager role will be based in our Melbourne CBD office.
What you'll do
The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below:
Effectively manage the design of the project including:Ensuring the design fully complies with the project contract documentsDelivering to the design programmePromote and develop improvements into the designEnsure that safety and constructability is built into the designDevelop and deliver against project goals and objectives including preparing accurate monthly reports on project performance criteriaEnsuring the design team is adequately resourced to deliver key requirements in line with the programme, budget and contractual arrangementsLead and develop an effective and productive team, including:Driving performance and providing leadership to the project teamDrive and manage performance of design consultantsEffectively assign tasks to team members to deliver the required project outputs to agreed specificationsDeveloping alignment between team capability and function's business objectivesSet goals for teamEnsuring role clarity, including responsibilities and reporting lines, exists for team membersIdentifying resource and skill gaps and developing strategies to bridge gapsDeveloping broader succession planning outcomesMentoring Design coordinators What you'll bring Minimum 10 years design experience in the related field.A bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.Interpretation and application of contracts.Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation.Written and verbal communication skills.Analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills.Industry and or project induction in accordance with legislation.
