Senior Data Scientist (Fraud Risk)

We are looking for a talented Senior Data Scientist specialising in Automated Risk Management and Strategy Optimisation to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced algorithms for automated risk-aware payment processing, customer behavioural risk scoring and quantitative collections strategy optimisation.
Additionally, the role involves collaborating cross-functionally, creating structure through documentation and training, and driving innovation in data science practices.
Reporting to the Head of Decisioning, the Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for:
System Management: Maintain and continuously improve and automate financial risk decisions assessing credit and fraud risk.Optimisation: Drive continuous improvements in quantitative risk assessment accuracy and efficiency that result in the best outcome for Marmalade, while ensuring an optimal product experience.Data Analysis: Continuously assess and communicate fraud strategy performance, deficiencies, and opportunities to senior management.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage and work alongside various key functional areas (Growth, Operations, and Product) affected by financial risk decisions and processes.Documentation: Compile and maintain comprehensive documentation containing relevant information on all strategies, systems, and processes related to Marmalade's Fraud Decision systems.ROLE KPI's Develop Fraud Risk Strategies: Develop and implement effective fraud risk strategies for Marmalade to manage financial losses from invoice fraud. Utilise a combination of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and traditional fraud detection methods.Accuracy of Fraud Risk Strategies: Measure and report on the performance of Invoice Fraud detection strategies in terms of precision, recall, and overall accuracy, ensuring high levels of effectiveness in identifying risk of financial losses through fraudulent invoices.ROI of Internal Data Science Services: Communicate the performance of new data science products by measuring additional revenue generated, cost reductions, or other financial benefits. Determine the return on investment based on the impact on business growth and profitability.WHO YOU ARE 2 to 5 years experience in Financial Services.Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.Proven experience in developing and deploying advanced machine learning algorithms for risk management, fraud detection, and customer behavior analysis.Proficiency in Python, along with experience using data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy).Strong understanding of risk management principles, payment processing systems, and collections strategies in relevant industries (e.g., finance, fintech, e-commerce).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.Experience with AI platforms (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) is a plus.Comfortable working in an environment where the systems and processes are still in the build stage and not yet clearly defined.Strong ability to prioritise activity based on potential impact.Self-motivated and autonomous (although you will have plenty of support from the team).An excitement and appetite to build something new.WHAT WE OFFER Marmalade is more than a company.
