Principal Intelligence Analyst (Team Leader) $143,798.00 per annum + superannuation Full time, ongoing opportunity Melbourne or Geelong based role (hybrid work from home – 3 days a week in office) About the role The Intelligence, Tasking & Coordination Unit (ICTU) is a new Unit being established to support WorkSafe Victoria's Compliance and Investigations Teams through enhancing strategic, operational and tactical decision-making via high quality intelligence products.
The ICTU will identify the next horizon of risks, threats and opportunities for disruption and interventions that will reduce workplace fatalities and harms across Victorian workplaces.
The Principal Intelligence Analyst has a key role in setting up and developing WorkSafe's Intelligence teams and capabilities.
The role is an exciting opportunity to build and embed an Intelligence capability and framework that will drive innovation and impactful regulation via relevant, timely, actionable Intelligence products.
Key responsibilities Develop and maintain an awareness of the regulatory environment including new and emerging threats and fraudulent and criminal activity within the regulatory landscape to identify targeting opportunities for compliance and enforcement.
Recruit and mentor Intelligence staff, role modelling a connected, persistent and dynamic approach within the team that promotes a culture of flexibility and continuous improvement.
Using established intelligence methodologies and structured analytical techniques develop sound, defensible assessments and lead the development of a range of high-quality intelligence products that inform decision-making by internal stakeholders.
Lead advanced data interrogation, research capabilities and threat assessment methodologies, and assess threats, including the use of information technology to undertake analysis.
Contribute to collection, analysis and production to inform WorkSafe Victoria's priorities and preventative programs.
Capture insights from intelligence operations and investigations and participate in intelligence collection activities and processes.
Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with our partner regulatory and law enforcement agencies to enhance collaboration and interoperability.

About you You are an experienced Principal Intelligence Analyst who is curious, collaborative and passionate about tradecraft and developing others.
You will support the establishment of an Intelligence function within WorkSafe Victoria through developing an Intelligence strategy, processes, and supporting intelligence artefacts.
You will use your strong liaison and negotiation skills to build and manage relationships and embed Intelligence across all levels of WorkSafe Victoria.
As a Principal Intelligence Analyst, you will possess relevant operational intelligence experience involving knowledge of all source collection, analysis and assessment processes often requiring exploitation of complex and disparate information.
Additionally, you will also possess: Significant experience in tactical, operational or strategic intelligence environments in either a Regulator, law enforcement agency or National Intelligence Community including extensive knowledge of intelligence processes, methodologies and tradecraft.
An ability to transfer tradecraft into the regulatory operating environment create and disseminate actionable intelligence products that will direct regulatory interventions, investigations and enforcement.
Demonstrates the ability to lead and conduct complex intelligence programs and identify and contribute to the design of operational strategies.
An ability to lead collection, analysis and production of intelligence to inform against WorkSafe's Compliance and Enforcement intelligence priorities and requirements An ability to lead advanced data interrogation, research capabilities and threat assessment methodologies, and assess threats, including the use of information technology to undertake analysis Has highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and maintain collaborative and productive internal and external working relationships A tertiary degree or professional qualification in Intelligence or relevant work experience.
