About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Corporate Lawyer to join our legal team. In this newly created role, you will provide critical legal support to our Integrated Energy Business Unit, focusing on AGL's diverse portfolio of power generation and gas assets. You will work closely with the Group Counsel – Operations and the General Manager Legal to align legal support with business strategies and objectives.
This role is Full Time Permanent and can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth or Brisbane.
What you'll be doing

Work closely with key internal stakeholders to provide a broad range of legal support across the Integrated Energy remit, focusing on operations, asset management, energy industry transition and site rehabilitation.
Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including EPC (and other project deliver contracts), O&M agreements, services and supply agreements.
Support Integrated Energy by advising on contract interpretation and administration issues and disputes.
Develop and maintain strong relationships and influence within the business, applying internal context to all legal advice to support achievement of business imperatives and to protect AGL's legal position.
Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and efficiency of legal services.
Build expertise across the team's scope and manage relationships with external counsel.
Manage legal risks, provide strategic advice on regulatory impacts, and facilitate efficient group legal operations.

About you
What you'll bring to the table

7+ years of PQE (Post-Qualification Experience) in private practice or a corporate legal role, with expertise in energy & resources, construction, infrastructure, corporate law, or property.
Bachelor of Laws degree and admission to practice in the applicable Australian jurisdiction.
Proven experience in leading complex legal matters and commercial contract negotiations.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the capability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
Ability to effectively manage stakeholder relationships and influence senior leaders.
Lead business change in response to regulatory developments.
Expertise in dispute resolution highly regarded.
