About the team BDO Migration Services is an incorporated immigration legal practice which specialises in all aspects of Australian immigration and nationality law for corporate and private clients. The team has a particular focus on employer sponsored temporary and permanent residency visas and business migration. As part of the BDO global network, BDO Migration Services offers market leading expertise.
The Migration Services team consults with publicly listed, private and government organisations spanning multiple industries and countries to ensure that appropriate controls and processes are in place.
About the role We are looking for a Senior Corporate Immigration Lawyer to collaborate with the Migration Services Partner to provide advice to our clients on employer sponsored related visa subclasses, in addition to a range of other visa subclasses.
Your core responsibilities will be to prepare and lodge applications, draft submissions and associated documents and liaise with relevant government departments and bodies.
You will work closely with the more junior members of the team, particularly the junior lawyers to provide supervision, mentoring and coaching.
You will be responsible for: Preparing and lodging visa applications and supporting documentation with the Department of Home Affairs across a range of visa subclasses;Researching matters and drafting detailed advice, submissions and associated documents;Managing and monitoring applications with immigration authorities until the matter is finalised;Managing a high volume of visa applications;Assisting with co-ordination of inbound visas;Managing client expectations and tailoring advice to specific and/or commercial needs of the clients;Acting in accordance with legal and ethical obligations and office and risk management practices and procedures.About you This role will be based in our Docklands office three days per week (and two days work from home). We're looking for a candidate with prior corporate immigration law background that is looking to take the next step in their career and enjoys a work/life balance.
Admission to practice and minimum 6 years PQECommercial acumen and experience working in a large corporate environment;Strong technical knowledge with respect to the current Australian immigration laws and policy;Expertise in business and employer sponsored visas;Experience in Migration Manager (desirable);Great attention to detail with a client centric approach.Why BDO?
