We are seeking a Senior Compliance Officer who will play a key role in leadership, both identifying and driving initiatives to advance the scope of the contribution to end-to-end complaint management for more efficient and effective regulation of the building industry.
Permanent, full-time position Location: 242 Exhibition Street, Melbourne
Position overview: Complaints and Statutory Referrals is responsible for the assessment and evaluation of building and plumbing complaints, statutory referrals, and building surveyor termination applications, initiating the appropriate course of action in accordance with the relevant legislation, VBA policies, and business rules.
The Senior Compliance Officer is responsible for advanced case management which requires a bespoke and innovative approach to control progress, prepare a brief of evidence, and refer matters directly to Practitioner Discipline where possible to expedite a disciplinary outcome.
The Senior Compliance Officer will play a key role in leadership, identifying and driving initiatives to advance the scope of the contribution to end-to-end complaint management for more efficient and effective regulation of the building industry. This will include implementing and QA of changes, in consultation with internal stakeholders across the VBA.
Undertaking investigations in collaboration with the Investigations Unit will also be a requirement of this role, as well as managing high-risk and escalated matters to support the Manager, Director, and Senior Leadership Team.

What we are looking for: Demonstrated experience in a compliance or regulatory environment undertaking investigation, preparing reports and briefs.Proven written and verbal communication skills to prepare accurate and thorough recommendations, reports, briefing papers, and correspondence.Demonstrated conceptual problem-solving skills and ability to analyze information.Demonstrated ability to identify and drive innovation for continuous improvements.Qualification in Government investigations, Building Inspector qualification, or related qualifications is highly regarded.VBA Commitment: The Victorian Building Authority embraces a diverse and inclusive culture that works together for the benefit of all Victorians.
