The Senior Commissioning and Planning Officer role is responsible for leading and managing key program activities within DCJ human services contracts with providers in the Mid North Coast, New England, and Northern NSW districts.
The role will have a focus on the provision of the Permanency Support Program and the Aboriginal Out of Home Care transition.
It may also have the opportunity to work on other funded programs such as Homelessness, Domestic and Family Violence, Family Preservation and Targeted Earlier Intervention.
The work is dynamic, fast-paced, and requires a sophisticated range of skills and experience.
The role provides an opportunity for you to build relationships with partners across government and the community sector to support the delivery of quality services by NGOs and achieve positive outcomes for children, individuals, families, and communities.
As part of the Commissioning and Planning team you will:
Take a lead role to support and progress District targets under the Aboriginal Out of Home Care transition project.
Manage contract meetings that include leading discussion and reporting minutes.
Manage meetings with internal and external government agencies and non-government providers.
Analyse reporting requirements and identify actions for follow up for the organisations that you are allocated.
Provide written responses to Ministerial and other requests for information internally within the department and externally.
Manage complaints and compliance for contracts.
Conduct annual reviews of the financial reporting requirements for individual organisations.
Work as part of a team of Commissioning Planning Officers, Senior and Assistant Project Officers and Managers.
What we're looking for
Experience working with non-government organisations and government agencies on the development and implementation of service delivery and social policy.
Experience working with, supporting, and addressing the cycle of disadvantage and risk of harm experienced by a number of our primary and prioritised clients; including Aboriginal Children, their families, and communities; and children and families from Non-English-Speaking Backgrounds and diverse cultural groups.
Experience and knowledge of one or more of the funded programs Permanency Support Program, Family Preservation, Specialist Homelessness Services, of Domestic and Family Violence, and/or Targeted Earlier Intervention Services.
Ability to work independently and manage your own work.
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to help build team capabilities, providing mentoring and support to others, and strengthening team cohesion.

Client service skills with an empathic approach to clients.
A strong commitment to customer service.
Computer and systems competency.
Sound research and analysis skills to support evidence-based decisions.
