Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) With an exciting pipeline of future work for the Australian Defence Force at the Henderson Shipyard, now is the time to join a dynamic and outcome focussed team and be part of the continuous naval shipbuilding program for the Australian Defence Force.
The SSA will establish an overarching portfolio which enables the build of vessels at the Henderson Precinct. The objective of the SSA is to establish the possess, capacity, capability, and environment to deliver Maritime Capability to the Australian Defence Force through the Continuous Naval Shipbuilding Program in Western Australia (WA). The Continuous Naval Shipbuilding Program delivered through Austal as the Strategic Shipbuilding partner for the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) in WA will require the engagement of local industry, supply chain and our workforce to be successful.

The Opportunity The Senior Commercial Manager is accountable for establishing and implementing the commercial framework across all Defence Contracts and Tasking Statements. Ensuring all commercial risk is understood, documented, and managed appropriately to minimise impact to the Business and the CoA.
What's involved Establish and implement a Commercial/Contract Management Framework that adequately manages the Business Risk Profile.Develop a strong and effective network of personal relationships with existing and identified new customers, suppliers and other relevant stakeholders that positively enhances Austal's position within the Australian Department of Defence and Defence Industry.Resolve commercial issues to ensure maximization of commercial performance for a relevant tasking Statement, aligned with the commercial strategy. This would include any potential warranty claims.Ensure development and implementation of a Business Security Framework that meets the needs of the SSA Portfolio.Support the achievement of all Strategic Performance Measures (SPM) Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and Key Health Indicators (KHI's) including development, monitoring, and reporting processes in accordance with contractual requirements.You'll need 10+ years' experience in a Leadership Commercial role.Experience in a procurement capacity.Strong management skills and team building capability.A thorough understanding of CASG contract mechanisms.Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.Effective communications skills, and proven stakeholder managementCompetency in MicrosoftSecurity Clearance roles only: Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
