Our Perth General Insurance team sits within our national General Insurance section, with around 200 team members nationally.
We provide general insurance advice to insurers, reinsurers and corporates in both the Australian and London insurance markets, and we sit on the legal panels of three of Australia's top four general insurers.
We also assist the Firm's Commercial Disputes Resolution (CDR) team.
The primary focus for this role will be advising on defendant personal injury and general liability matters, including historical abuse claims.
These are highly complex, technically challenging and sensitive claims.
Our team regularly appears in the District Court and Supreme Court of WA.
This is a fantastic hands-on role with significant development and progression opportunities as well as the opportunity to work with interesting clients, including some of Australia's top insurers.
Skills and experience We would like to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience: a minimum of 5 years' post-admission experience advising on defendant insurance matters, ideally in personal injury and general liability; experience defending historical abuse claims and/or an interest in this area of law; we will also consider candidates from a plaintiff background who are interested in transitioning to defendant work; experience in the day-to-day management of files, and in running matters through court proceedings; are proactive and able to work autonomously and as part of a team; excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills with a keen attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to organise and prioritise effectively.
