Senior Associate - Employment Law - Run Brisbane Practice

Details of the offer

Senior Associate - Employment Law - Run Brisbane PracticeThis is a great opportunity for a Senior Associate Employment Lawyer who wants to step up and run the Brisbane side of a high-quality national Employment law practice.
The National Head of Employment is an ex-top-tier Partner, based in Sydney, and until now the Sydney team has been running all the files coming from Brisbane. The Brisbane office has solid Corporate, Commercial, Property, and Litigation practices, and the Brisbane referrals have reached a point where we need someone on the ground to be the local face of the Employment practice.
This is a fairly classic generalist employment practice with quite a broad technical scope of matters (except no WHS, and very little IR) – there is a particular focus on workplace investigations, and a roughly 50/50 split of advisory and disputes work.
They have a solid base of Australian and international clients across the health, insurance, media, education and training, accounting, and construction sectors. One day you might be working with a GC client in the US, or an executive for an ASX-listed organisation, or a smaller-scale commercial client.
Although being the sole Employment Lawyer on the ground in Brisbane, the rest of the national team all work on a 50/50 Hybrid WFH arrangement and conduct most of their meetings virtually already, and the person in this role will be embedded as part of that national group working on matters referred by the Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide offices.
Coming from a top-tier background, the National Head of Employment runs a typical big-firm model with strong technical support and supervision on matters. That being said, we are looking for someone who is self-driven and proactive in managing their files and managing up.
Looking to the future, this is a great opportunity to develop and expand your own client relationships in the Brisbane market and build a local practice for yourself. The firm is on a measured growth path and we are looking for someone enthusiastic about stepping up to a Partnership role in line with that growth.
