Our Sydney offices boast a mixture of technical specialists across a range of disciplines and the Ecology & Biodiversity team is seeking their newest Senior team member! You will have the opportunity to continue your growth directly with the local team along with SLR's wider Australian team of 100+ Ecologists as well as mentoring junior staff and having a positive impact on their careers.
Key Responsibilities
You will be confident in your technical ability and have a positive attitude to do the following tasks:
Providing high quality service and advice in your area of expertise to clients and colleagues, in both office based and fieldwork activitiesProactively managing selected projects or components of projects and ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholdersManaging delivery of ecological surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems, specifically flora and fauna, biodiversity and habitatPlan and participate in field survey programs to collect a variety of different ecological dataInterpretation and application of environmental legislation to projects across a variety of different sectorsDevelopment of technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and implications for environmental impact assessment and managementAssisting in preparing tenders and proposalsExperience with mentoring junior staff and leading field tripsIntegrating your technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teamsMake independent studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions and decisions and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studiesTravel to remote areas, including interstate, to conduct field survey programsSkills and experience
The successful candidate must have:
An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources or in another related field5-6+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government, including undertaking ecological surveys and report productionExperience in the design and implementation of flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programsBAM accreditation preferred, working towards accreditation with experience preparing/contributing to Biodiversity Assessment Reports ('BARs') also consideredExcellent flora and/or fauna identification skillsMature report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high quality written material for publicationProven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasksProven project management experience in relation to client management and budget controlOur Benefits
