About the role  The Reform Development team manages regulatory change to support AEMO's strategic priorities and the energy market objectives through a proactive, coordinated, and consistent approach in partnership with the business. Reporting to the Manager – NEM Wholesale Reform, this role will see you evaluate regulatory problems, develop options, supporting evidence, and preparing documentation (submissions, papers, data analysis, reports) to convince stakeholders of regulatory solutions necessary for AEMO to succeed.  The aim is to support a consistent AEMO narrative on how regulatory frameworks should evolve through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.  As a Senior Analyst you will be required to develop a good understanding of AEMO's market operations, the ability to investigate regulatory matters, and an ability to discuss these with staff and external stakeholders, including briefing GM's and Executives.  This role will also include completing work required under AEMO's regulatory change framework, from the inception of a rule change to handover to staff implementing a final rule. By actively competing regulatory tasks, completing analysis, drafting papers, and developing AEMO's regulatory positions, the Senior Analyst supports the manager of NEM Wholesale Reform, who is also responsible for line management and allocation of tasks across the team. This opportunity is a permanent full-time role available in either our Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne CBD offices. What you will be doing  Investigate complex regulatory problems with direction and support of a Principal Analyst, Manager, or Specialist  Analyse and advise on the need for regulatory change to support AEMO's initiatives, and apply AEMO's rule change framework  Complete tasks supporting a more senior team member, for example drafting a rule change proposal  Prepare proposals, submissions, supporting analysis to regulatory consultations, plan and co-ordinate AEMO's response  Be able to explain AEMO's regulatory positions on matters relating to the wholesale market and market operations  Consult with relevant staff within AEMO and ensure accountability is clear for the implementation of Rule changes  Support implementation of regulatory elements of major projects (such as through procedure consultations) With support of the Manager, represent AEMO at industry or internal working groups as required (including AEMC technical working groups)  Complete ad-hoc data analysis, advice on regulatory issues in the wholesale market to support or investigate regulatory proposals  Improve the wholesale reform team's understanding of the electricity wholesale market by researching issues What you will bring to the role  Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in science, engineering, economics, law, commerce, and finance Proven experience working in the electricity industry, preferably focusing on the electricity wholesale market  Demonstrated ability to analyse complex regulatory issues and present them Manager, Specialists, at GM level, both internal and external Experience in completing data analysis with electricity wholesale market data, trading data and settlements, and the ability to interpret and present that data  A good understanding of the electricity wholesale market, and keen interest in further specialising in its operation and rules  Demonstrated experience in completing set tasks, projects to time, quality, and budget Data driven mindset and desire to handle data is essential In return some of our benefits to you Flexible working: work from home, part time, job share, hybrid options, and additional leave options Professional development via projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance and more Give back with up to 4 days of volunteering leave per year Reward your hard work with annual performance bonuses (subject to eligibility) Embrace a healthier you with our wellness program, discounted health insurance, gym perks and our comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP) About Our Process  AEMO values diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, welcoming applications from all backgrounds without regard to age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, parental status, race, religion and our First Nation peoples.
