The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced policy advisor to join the Cyber Security, Data and Digital Resilience division to work across the Whole of Victorian Government (WOVG) on digital, cyber and emergency management reform. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and public sector experience and the ability to provide high-quality research and undertake analysis to support the successful delivery of projects.
About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
Demonstrated understanding of digital and security policies and how they are applied within Victorian government. Proven ability to articulate policy analysis outcomes and create policies to support input to a range of other project deliverables.Strong acumen and ability to think on your feet combined with robust problem-solving to drive the right outcomes.Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including in the preparation of policy documents, submissions, reports, succinct briefings, and the ability to adapt communication of complex information to the needs of diverse audiences.The ability to successfully acquire and maintain a BASELINE level security clearance in Australia (requires Australian citizenship).Key Accountabilities Assist with cyber, digital and emergency management policy analysis and provide advice on key policies and processes, especially for cyber security, within the public service.Create draft WOVG policies, including recommend updates to existing WOVG policies and working with the program team to document technical and functional requirements.Analyse, prepare and present comprehensive written materials on policy and processes relating to digital and emergency management initiatives for senior management, executives, government and other key stakeholders.Prepare draft policy documents, workshop materials, correspondence, briefings, submissions, and reports on sensitive issues within tight timelines for senior stakeholders.Develop and maintain effective networks and relationships across various areas of the VPS with a diverse range of stakeholders.Other duties as directed that are not listed in the position description, but which are consistent with a position of this grade and skills requirement.For specific responsibilities please review the attached position description.
