The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency Ltd (NAAJA) provides legal assistance and justice services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Northern Territory. We have offices in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs. We are recognised as a leading legal service and have received national and local human rights and crime prevention awards for our work.
OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION: NAAJA's Finance Section provides the highest possible level of financial processing, reporting, financial accountability, financial systems, processes and procedures and advice to the CEO, Board, and relevant stakeholders. The work requires high levels of motivation, energy and a commitment to professional excellence. 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position assists the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage and deliver the finance function for NAAJA and, to varying degrees, encompasses the whole financial management and reporting cycle.
Maintenance of all new and current suppliers list, making sure that every supplier has an email, phone number and ABN and correct bank accounts and create template for change of bank accounts. Check for accuracy on the grant code for all invoices as per workflow process. Provide support to the CFO during budget preparation. Oversee work and performance management of the Accountant and Senior Finance Officer role. Preparing monthly Income and Expenditure, Balance sheet reports on a timely manner (12th-15th of each month) in consultation with the CFO for program management use. Authorize funds in the bank as per delegations register. Prepare Annual Audit accounts in consultation with the CFO. Supervise the Accountant in Grant Revenue management by making sure that invoices all generated on timely manner. Prepare various grant acquittals and lodge the acquittal to the funders using grant portals after it is approved by the CFO or CEO. Provide support to the accountant in reconciling general ledger accounts monthly if not already reconciled. Train and provide support to the Accountant during quarterly BAS reporting and FBT and STP reconciliation and preparation of reports. Liaise with financial institutions to find better investment rates and decisions on behalf of NAAJA. Help bring quality improvements to the accounting systems and processes. Work in a team to provide support to CFO and other member of the finance team. SELECTION CRITERIA Member of a recognised Professional Body, CPA or CA Over 5 years' experience in the accounting sector, especially in the NGO sector. Experience managing and mentoring staff Office 365 suite with experience in implementation of new accounting software. Proven ability to manage workload with limited supervision to achieve required outcomes within tight deadlines. A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who works with initiative, commitment and positive attitude. Post graduate studies in any field.
