Job Description Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Thanks for stopping by.
We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney.
We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.
But you have choice in where and how you work.
That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home, or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA.
But we like to think that's all part of the fun.
This will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
About the team
We want to be the most-accessible design tool in the world – and with strong sustained internal support from leadership and core product teams, our Accessibility Teams are set to achieve this mission.
Canva is in a really interesting position in the accessibility space where we need to think about how everyone can use the product as well as how people can make designs that are accessible, ideally by default.
Imagine being able to confidently use a design tool to make a beautiful design without seeing it.
This is a deep complex problem that is on the cutting edge of modern web applications.
About the role
At Canva, we want to ensure that we know and understand our accessibility risks and compliance obligations so that decision makers throughout the organisation have the information that they need to make good risk decisions.
As an Accessibility Compliance Analyst, you will be involved in a diverse range of risk management activities including consulting on projects and proposals, periodic risk reviews, and internal and external audits.
You will work with staff from across the organisation to identify and assess risks to the Canva product for both existing and new features and surfaces.
You'll collaborate with a technical program manager, a product manager, a lead designer, and 3rd party auditing and consultancy services along with some support from a sister Accessibility Innovation team.
You'll primarily lead the compliance strategy for the core Canva product and support the strategy for Canva subsidiaries.
Role Responsibilities:
Own and build a compliance strategy to mitigate risks in a prioritized and well-reasoned approach, particularly with the upcoming European Accessibility Act.
Drive progress with teams by outlining compliance standards and outlining risk decisions in the best interests of the company; while there is clear buy-in from company leadership, you will need to drive progress through influence and stakeholder conversations without authority.
Deliver preventative and detective controls and processes that support compliance efforts and reduce accessibility risk.
Maintain an accurate paper trail of decision docs and compliance progress to defend Canva when we need to apply for exemptions/delays or in response to a regulatory review.
Manage vendor relationships with Intopia, Fable, and any other a11y consultants related to auditing, testing, and education.
Liaise in the relevant time zones with critical staff and lead effective conversations with stakeholders across the business.
You'll also be expected to coach 1 Senior Accessibility Compliance Analyst who will look after subsidiaries in Europe.
Required Experience:
Minimum 3 years+ experience in Accessibility Risk & Compliance.
Familiarity with WCAG 2.2 AA and ATAG 2.0 and how this applies to regulatory standards set in the American Disability Act, Disability Discrimination Act (Australia), and European Accessibility Act.
Deep nuanced appreciation and understanding of different disability models, universal design, and accessibility-related standards.
Previous accessibility auditing experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work alongside both technical and non-technical colleagues across all levels of an organisation.
Experience prioritising and progressing multiple tasks and projects.
A high-level of attention to detail.
A continuous improvement mindset.
Nice to have:
Accessibility certifications (e.g.
IAAP CPACC, WAS, CPWA).
