About the roleOur Queensland State Government client is seeking an experienced Security Operations (SecOps) Engineer to join their team. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing information security risks related to the project and its future capabilities. Collaborating closely with internal teams, such as Technology Architecture, Agile Software Development, and Security Governance, as well as external partners, you'll take a hands-on approach primarily focused on AWS cloud environments. Your key objective will be to integrate security assurance into business and technical processes, identifying, prioritising, and addressing cyber risks using defence-in-depth security architecture practices.
Key responsibilitiesDevelop and maintain security tools and systems to enhance detection, prevention, and response to cyber threats.Implement Agile practices for continuous security improvement in platform development.Lead remediation and enhance security automation in the CI/CD pipeline, including DAST, SAST, IAST, and RASP.Monitor and analyze security events from platform alerts, providing first-level triage for swift resolution.Coordinate penetration testing and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks.Skills and experienceExperience in coordinating the delivery of security policy and program advice to influence best practices in risk management.Proficiency in working with Agile tools and methodologies.Ability to collaborate with teams to develop shared objectives and clear success indicators.Strong understanding of security technologies and practices, including vulnerability assessments.Experience in security automation within CI/CD pipelines.Analytical skills for monitoring and responding to security events effectively.BenefitsInitial contract till end of June 2025 with possible extensions.
