Security Officer

Security Officer Key Responsibilities
· Operate and monitor security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems, to ensure the safety and security of premises.
· Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas, including buildings, parking lots, and other facilities, to detect and prevent unauthorized access, vandalism, and other security breaches.
· Manage and control access to secure areas by verifying identification, checking credentials, and authorizing entry for employees, visitors, and contractors.
· Respond quickly and appropriately to alarms, security breaches, and emergencies, including medical incidents, fire alarms, and disturbances, ensuring the safety of all individuals on-site.
· Document and report all incidents, suspicious activities, and security breaches in detailed logs and reports, ensuring that all relevant information is accurately recorded.
· Perform searches of individuals, vehicles, and personal belongings when necessary to prevent the entry of prohibited items into secure areas.
· Assist employees, visitors, and the public by providing directions, answering questions, and offering support during emergencies or other security-related situations.
· Ensure that all security equipment, such as cameras, alarms, and communication devices, are properly maintained, functional, and ready for use.
· Enforce site-specific rules and regulations, including preventing loitering, smoking in prohibited areas, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
· Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies, providing information and support during investigations, and coordinating responses to serious incidents.
· Manage crowds during events, protests, or other gatherings, ensuring that order is maintained, and that participants and bystanders remain safe.
· Participate in ongoing training to stay current with security protocols, emergency procedures, and the latest security technologies and trends.
Qualifications/ Requirements:

Age: Typically, candidates must be at least 18 years old. Some positions may require candidates to be 21 or older.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is usually required. Some positions may prefer or require additional education or certifications.
Background Check: A clean criminal record is often required. A background check is usually conducted to ensure the candidate has no felony convictions or other disqualifying offenses.
Physical Fitness: Security officers often need to meet certain physical fitness standards, as the job can be physically demanding. This may include passing a physical fitness test.

Licensing and Certification: WA security officers license required, Cert II in Security Operations & First Aid Qualification required.
Experience:

Requires minimum 1 year of experience in security, law enforcement, or military roles.
Direct experience working as a security officer or in a similar role is highly valuable.
Experience in law enforcement or the military can be beneficial and may sometimes be required for more advanced positions.
Experience with security systems, surveillance equipment, and emergency response procedures can be important.
Roles that involve interacting with the public may require experience in customer service or hospitality.
Completion of basic security training programs or courses is often required.
Certifications such as Security Guard License, CPR/First Aid, or specialized training in areas like cyber security may be required or preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Ability to handle and resolve conflicts and emergencies effectively.

Pay: $73,500.00 – $78,000.00 per year
