We have a highly engaged, diverse and collaborative workforce that is unified by our goal to help people live healthy and fulfilled lives.About the roleThe Security Services Department of Austin Health services patients, visitors and staff by:Protecting patients, visitors and staff from harmMaintaining an acceptable level of order, control and safetyProtecting personal and Austin Health property from theft, misuse and vandalismPerform the duties of this position efficiently and effectively to the standards of the DepartmentThe Security Services Department, within the Information and Services Directorate, services 3 sites and Mercy Hospital for Women.
The department is an in-house service and operates 24/7.A regular day will see you:Be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidaysWork across all Austin Health sitesAssist wards and departments with unruly or disorientated patients or visitorsAssist with car parking operations, when required to do soAudit the CCTV system daily and report any faults to the Security ManagerCompile full written reports on incidents of wrongdoingConduct security patrolsAbout youYou will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care.
You'll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:Current Victorian Security LicencePrevious Skills and Experience in SecurityVictorian Driver LicenceEssential Knowledge and skills:Hold and maintain a current Security / Crowd controlling LicenceExperience in the delivery of Security ServicesExperience in the use of Security operating software and systems including controls and CCTVHave highly developed communication and conflict resolution skillsHave strong customer service skillsGood written communication skills including the ability to write reportsBe able to work in a team environmentBe able to take initiativeThe ability to work unsupervisedHave intermediate computer skills e.g.
MS Word, Outlook, Excel and other related Security databasesA commitment to Austin Health valuesHold a current Victorian Working with Children CheckHold a current Victorian Drivers LicenceDesirable but not essential:Experience in HealthCertificate III in Security OperationsExperience in Building and Engineering Information Management SystemsHold a current level II First Aid CertificateOur benefitsWorking at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
