The Secondary School Nursing Program delivers holistic, preventative health care to young people in Secondary Schools. The Secondary School Nurse role supports the school community in addressing contemporary health and social issues facing young people with a focus on health promotion and primary prevention including health education, classroom education sessions and small group education as well as limited primary health care including student assessment, referral and support. The Secondary School Nurse works collaboratively with students, teachers, wellbeing staff, school leadership and school communities to build capacity and improve health outcomes.

Are you passionate about improving health and well-being outcomes for young people? An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Division 1 Nurse with qualifications and experience in adolescent health and or health promotion, to join a dynamic team of School Nurses. A fixed-term (until 30 December 2022) 1.0FTE position is currently available working within the Secondary School Nursing team, North Eastern Melbourne Area, North Western Victoria Region. Based out of the DET Regional Office in Greensborough and two schools within the North Eastern Melbourne Area.

The successful applicant must have the ability to work independently as an integral part of a diverse multidisciplinary team within the school community, supporting health promotion and wellbeing on a whole-school level. The incumbent is required to practice in accordance with Department of Education and Training policy and procedure as well as the various Professional Codes, Guidelines and Registration Standards set by Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority.
