The role of a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare involves delivering hotel/restaurant standards in the care home setting. The successful candidate will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus while working closely with residents to tailor the menus to their preferences. Main duties of the jobAs a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will have the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients and create a warm, efficient and fun environment in the kitchen. You will be responsible for managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, assisting with menu development, and working within a budget to deliver high-quality, wholesome dishes. You will also be required to complete regular audits, manage stock control, and help lead and motivate a team of kitchen staff.

You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. NEED TO HAVE A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent Experience in helping lead and inspire a team A good understanding of nutrition Experience of working with fresh seasonal food The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home Good understanding of HACCP

Person SpecificationQualificationsYou will need to hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification, and have experience in helping lead and inspire a team. You should also have a good understanding of nutrition and experience of working with fresh, seasonal food.
