Scientist - Microbiology, Queensland Health Join our hard-working team based in Toowoomba. This is an exciting permanent part-time opportunity. You will conduct testing in the disciplines of Microbiology and the Molecular Unit of the Laboratory ensuring the provision of a high-quality, cost-effective pathology service to clients as part of the Pathology Queensland network.
Key Responsibilities include:
Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces. Work as part of a high-performing team supporting the timely delivery of pathology results to clients. Routine and complex testing of samples and related duties, following well-established accredited protocols and standards within all areas of Microbiology and MDU. With demonstrated experience, or as experience builds, apply increasingly independent scientific judgement to more complex problems and decision making, under the scientific supervision or professional guidance of more senior staff. Deliver quality results to clients ensuring all aspects of a NATA accredited laboratory are adhered to. Actively participate in the team in a professional manner and treat clients and co-workers with respect and courtesy. You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skills within a Microbiology/MDU laboratory. Demonstrated ability to participate in a multi-skilled laboratory team independently and under the supervision of more senior practitioners. Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skills within a Microbiology / Molecular / PCR laboratory. Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to routine and complex scientific duties in a multi-skilled and molecular laboratory with the provision of results and advice in a client-focused manner. Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification. Perform duties with a high degree of independence. Qualifications, registrations and other requirements:
Possession of a B App Sc (Medical Laboratory Science) or an equivalent qualification. How to Apply:
