Job DescriptionThe Position We are looking for an experienced Science Laboratory Technician to work within a cohesive and well organised team.
You will be responsible for the preparation and organisation of equipment and materials for Junior and Senior Science, Physics, Biology and Chemistry experiments; the maintenance, checking and storage of Science equipment; the management of stock for the Storeroom; and general laboratory upkeep and maintenance.
This position is a part-time (FTE 0.4) ongoing position, available for immediate commencement (or by negotiation).
Attributes / Skills and Experience You will be experienced and confident in your understanding of the associated safe work practices relevant to a laboratory including Occupational Health and Safety regulations; storage, labelling and disposal of chemicals; knowledge and understanding of the use of Hazardous Substances Risk Assessments; and Materials Safety and Data sheets and associated safe work practices.
With a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the latest developments in laboratory technician practices, you will be someone who relates well with other staff and students and will have the capacity to work independently and as a part of a team.
Previous experience in a school environment would be highly regarded.
A commitment to child safety is essential, to be considered for this position with candidates currently possessing, or willingness to obtain, a Working with Children Check.
