As a Disability Support Worker (DSW) trainee, you'll be part of a team delivering compassionate care to people with intellectual disabilities.
Whether it's providing companionship, assisting with daily tasks, or encouraging personal growth, you'll be creating moments that make a difference.
What is a Traineeship?
As a trainee, you'll be employed by Minda as a Disability Support Worker in training while studying for the CHC33021 - Certificate III in Individual Support through the South Australian Learning Centre (SALC).
Gain practical experience, earn a wage, and become part of our dedicated team as you develop skills in the disability support sector.
How Can You Contribute?
As a School-based DSW trainee, you'll provide person-centred support by: Assisting clients with daily tasks such as personal care (e.g., hygiene, dressing, mobility support) Supporting clients in social and community activities Helping clients build life skills and independence Communicating effectively with clients, families, and stakeholders Encouraging client autonomy and decision-making Collaborating with your team to deliver consistent support What We're Looking For: We seek trainees who are: Positive, energetic, and eager to learn Passionate about caring for others and enhancing clients' lives Committed to working a minimum of 7.5 hours per week, plus 1 day of off-the-job training when required Enrolled in Year 11 or 12 Able to commute to North Brighton or surrounding areas Available to start in December 2024 While experience in disability support is not required, we value trainees who show compassion and align with our values.
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for this traineeship, you must: Not have completed a Certificate III or equivalent courses Be enrolled in a South Australian school Be eligible for subsidised training, which includes: Being 16 years old or turning 16 in the current year and enrolled in Year 11, 12, or 13 (doing SACE or an equivalent) Employed under a Training Contract that combines VET and SACE or school curriculum Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold an eligible visa For eligibility details, visit Skills SA.
Pre-Requisites: Before starting, you'll need: Right to work documents (Visa, Citizenship Certificate, Passport, Birth Certificate) Current First Aid/CPR certification NDIS Worker Screening Check (details provided upon acceptance into the program) What You Can Expect: When you join Minda, you'll enjoy: Earning while Learning: Get paid while you study and gain valuable on-the-job training.

2025 Program structure: Interviews: October-November 2024 Orientation Week: 9th December 2024 (Full week) Start Date: 16th December 2024 (7.5 hours/week) Holidays: 24th December - 2nd January 2025 Classes Begin: 5th February 2025 (Wednesdays) Work Schedule: Until Classes Start: 1 work day per week After Classes Start: 1 work day and 1 class day per week Estimated Program Completion Date is 09/12/2025 How to Apply: Ready to make a difference?
