About the Role Programmed Training Services, in partnership with Svitzer, is seeking motivated and reliable students to join our School-Based Maritime Traineeship program. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the maritime industry while completing a nationally recognised qualification, all while attending school. As a School-Based Maritime Trainee, you will work one day per week with Svitzer, one of the leading maritime service providers, gaining valuable skills and experience. You will be enrolled in a MAR20321 Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal), delivered by North Regional TAFE, ensuring a structured learning and development program in the maritime sector. Daily Duties May Include:
Assisting with vessel operations, including mooring, refueling, and maintenance
Supporting maritime teams with day-to-day port operations
Learning to use maritime equipment and technology
Completing tasks assigned as part of the training plan
Participating in structured learning activities aligned with your Certificate II qualification
Essential Criteria:
Currently enrolled in Year 10 and entering Year 11 in 2025
Ability to commit to a part-time traineeship (1 day per week)
Strong interest in pursuing a career in the maritime industry
Ability to work well as part of a team and take initiative
Willingness to learn and complete training as required
