The Anaesthesia Department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead has up to 1.0FTE permanent Staff Specialist position available with an anticipated commencement of 4 August 2025. Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.
Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Anaesthetist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.Extensive recent experience in paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia and acute pain management at Consultant level in a tertiary paediatric institution. This experience must be recent and the applicant must demonstrate a commitment to a career in paediatric anaesthesia and paediatric anaesthesia research.Paediatric Cardiac Anaesthetic experience is desirable but not essential.Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.SCHN is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages all suitably qualified applicants to apply, including Indigenous Australians, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
