Job Description Australian County Choice (ACC) is a leader in the meat processing industry, known for upholding the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team in the role of Scales Operator.
The Scales Operator is responsible for accurately weighing, labelling, and processing meat and meat products in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
This role ensures that all products meet quality and safety specifications, while adhering to hygiene protocols and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities: Ensure the safety of yourself, other employees, and visitors in the offal room.
Be aware of machinery and other people in your vicinity at all times.
Adhere to food safety regulations and ensure that the product meets all requirements set by customers and governing bodies.
Follow hygienic procedures when entering and exiting production areas, including washing boots, covering hair with hairnets or beard snoods, and sterilizing equipment and PPE when needed.
Maintain a clean work environment by disposing of waste in the correct bins and avoiding contamination of red inedible product tubs with plastic or paper waste.
Stretch and warm up before starting any physical tasks to prevent injury.
Wear all required PPE, such as hard hats, gum boots, and hearing protection, and report any damaged equipment to a supervisor for immediate replacement.
Verify the accuracy of trade scales before production using test weights (10kg and 20kg) and record results in the "Daily Calibration Carton Scales Form." Ensure that the slaughter date and pack date are accurate before proceeding with production and notify supervisors of any discrepancies.
Print and check QA test labels for legibility and accuracy, ensuring they include the AI stamp, Halal stamp, and Best Before Date.
Correct any issues before attaching the label.
Perform pre-start checks on the strapping machine, ensuring test and tag dates are current and that all guards are in place.
Report any issues to the supervisor.
Verify that all products meet specification requirements before weighing and labelling and rework any product that does not comply.
Apply product labels correctly, ensuring they are placed in the correct position on both the inner and outer cartons.
At the end of each shift, return unused packaging to designated storage, clean scales to hygiene standards, and dispose of waste from the work area in appropriate bins.
Qualifications Certificate II in Meat Processing or similar At least one-year relevant experience Experience in a meat processing environment, specifically in handling offal.
Strong understanding of hygiene standards and ability to maintain cleanliness during offal processing.
