SAP is seeking an experienced lawyer with 5+ years post qualification legal experience to work as part of the SAP Asia Pacific Japan ("APJ") legal team, focusing on the SAP Australia and New Zealand market unit. You will work closely with the regional APJ legal team, and your primary responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating technology cloud, license, service, and related agreements to help achieve SAP's business growth strategies and objectives. All legal work must be carried out within SAP's risk tolerances, while maintaining SAP policies and complying with applicable laws. In addition, the position will work with other internal lines of business/practice areas such as finance, marketing, procurement, and bid management. You will provide legal advice and counseling on a wide variety of matters, including intellectual property, licensing, data privacy, and license compliance matters.
The role involves working with sales and services professionals, pricing, and revenue recognition teams in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work with a team across a wide organization is critical. Experience in Cloud (software as a service) and with Australian government contracting is beneficial.
The key accountabilities of the role are to: Work with local and regional deal support teams to draft contracts, resolve issues, and streamline deal support for transactions. Work as part of the ANZ and APJ legal teams to manage and respond to requests for legal support and participate in regional legal initiatives. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and work closely with the SAP Office of Ethics and Compliance on compliance topics. Draft, redline, and negotiate terms and agreements with customers, including software-as-a-service agreements, software licensing, professional services agreements, and data processing agreements in support of SAP's Cloud and Services business. Work closely with internal Sales and Deal Support teams during the drafting and negotiation process. Work with sales, finance, and operations teams to ensure that contractual terms are compliant with legal, regulatory, and company policies and risk preferences. Education and Skills Graduation from an accredited law school. Qualified to practice law in Australia. Preferably experience in negotiating Software as a Service agreements and/or other technology-related agreements. A team player who can work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to understand and work according to the commercial pressures of a sales business in a dynamic and high-pressure environment. Critical thinking skills to identify issues and discuss them with team members and legal management for quick resolution. Creative problem-solving ability, knowing when to follow established guidelines and when to suggest alternative approaches that further the company's objectives within the risk and compliance framework. Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with peers, internal clients, and external customers, conveying processes, policies, and advice clearly. Able to represent SAP to external customers on specific subject matter topics within your field of expertise.
