Job Description To reduce our dependence on rainfall and groundwater and support the growing population, Water Corporation has formed the Alkimos SeaWater Alliance, which includes ACCIONA Construction Australia, ACCIONA Agua and Jacobs. The Alkimos SeaWater Alliance project will deliver WA's next major water source - A new seawater desalination plant at Alkimos. At completion of stage 1 the plant will supply up to 50 billion litres of clean, safe drinking water to millions of Western Australians each year. The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.

The Permit Coordinator plays a crucial role in the safe and efficient execution of the permitting process in a high-risk construction environment. This position is responsible for overseeing the Permit to Work (PTW) process, and verifying compliance with permit safety controls, while facilitating effective communication among stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities: Manage the site administration of the Permit to Work process, ensuring all daily work permits are documented and coordinated effectively. Serve as the primary contact for permit holders, utility providers, contractors, and government agencies regarding excavation permits. Work closely with Engineers and Supervisors in the planning and preparation of permits. Conduct PTW coordination meetings to align all stakeholders on permit requirements and safety measures. Proactively communicate with project team members, sub-contractors, and clients to ensure successful permit planning and execution. Manage a comprehensive database for tracking, recording, and archiving all permits issued. Ensure appropriate levels of risk management are in place for all permits. Audit and monitor permits for efficacy and efficiency, providing guidance and instruction throughout the permitting process. Deliver training to personnel on the permit to work processes and associated procedures. Review and issue Permits, ensuring the accuracy of information and compliance with standards. Conduct site walks to verify permit control measures are complied with. Required Skills and Competencies Proven experience in the practical application of permits in a construction setting. Understanding of Work Health and Safety practices in high-risk environments. Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (desirable). Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in report writing and analytical skills. Strong computer literacy, with experience in permit issuing (highly desirable). Familiarity with WA WHS legislation, regulations, and practices. What we offer
