Your roleAs a Safety and Wellbeing Specialist, you will lead the development and management of SEC's Safety and Wellbeing function.
This role is essential in building and implementing key safety systems, policies, and processes that support a proactive safety culture.
You will work across both office and field-based operations, with travel required across Victoria to support teams at various sites.
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of all employees, creating an inclusive and safe environment for everyone.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell. What you will do: OH&S Policy and Framework Development: Design and implement tailored OH&S policies, procedures, and a scalable Safety and Wellbeing Framework for SEC operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards.Risk and Compliance Management: Collaborate with the enterprise risk team to ensure compliance with OH&S legislation, conduct risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies for workplace safety.Safety Culture and Initiatives: Lead initiatives to foster a strong safety culture, ensuring safety is integrated into business decisions and staff are trained on WHS best practices.Incident and Injury Management: Establish systems for incident reporting, investigation, and injury management, supporting workers' return to work and maintaining safety standards.Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and safety experts to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in safety and wellbeing.Who you are:Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are: Membership with the Australian Institute of Health and Safety.Extensive experience with occupational health, safety, and wellbeing systems/platforms.Proven track record of delivering measurable results and improvements in OHS and WorkCover.Experience in conducting field-based/site inspections and assessments.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey safety information effectively.Experience in claims management, compliance, and reporting.Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to travel to regional office sites as needed.Highly Desirable: Experience in safety leadership development, safety culture transformation, critical risk management, audit and assurance programs, and contractor management.A commitment to continuous learning, fostering high performance, and creating a respectful, inclusive environment.Innovative and critical thinking skills to drive safety improvements and initiatives.Our empowered workforceA career with us means you'll be joining a new and vibrant 'for purpose' government-owned renewable energy company that: Empowers you to influence how we accelerate Victoria's renewable energy transition and decarbonise our economy.Inspires you through meaningful, challenging work in an environment that encourages leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit.Supports your growth through career advancement and professional development opportunities.Provides hybrid work arrangements, with around 3 days working in Melbourne or Morwell, with flexible work options to meet individual circumstances, providing greater choice and autonomy.About usWe have an exciting and ambitious road ahead with a focus on: Investing in renewable energy and storage projects that accelerate the transition and deliver commercial returns.Supporting households to go all electric to reduce their emissions and energy bills.Building the renewable energy workforce our energy transition requires.The SEC will play a role in attracting and training our future renewable energy workforce, including through the SEC Centre of Training Excellence.
