About the Role Mako is currently seeking an experienced Safety and Training Coordinator to join our team. In this role, your responsibilities will be to provide guidance and direction in creating and maintaining a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors to site. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, forward-thinking, and capable of multi-tasking. It is essential to have a strong ability to promote a culture of inspiration, innovation, and collaboration within the team. This position will require an 8-days on, 6-days off roster and you will either Fly-in Fly-out from Perth or Drive-in Drive-out from Kalgoorlie and Esperance.
Duties and Responsibilities Coach and mentor employees, encouraging safe behaviour through observation and demonstration of proactive, practicable safety actions whilst always showing genuine care for all workers' health, safety, and wellbeing. Provide expert advice to managers and supervisors in relation to legal obligations, policies, systems, and procedures. Lead and facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment, and critical risk management processes. Manage and maintain an accurate and full account of all training, inductions, and assessments conducted. Continually monitor and manage training requirements of all operators to ensure skill requirements are met. Ensure workplace incidents and injuries are fully investigated and that recommendations for change to prevent recurrence are implemented. Develop, present, and distribute weekly safety presentations, monthly safety and incident investigation reports, and crew communications. Manage and maintain critical registers for training, inspections, corrective actions, leading/lagging indicators, hazardous substances, assets, documents, etc. Assist in the management of injuries and rehabilitation of injured workers. Develop, write, and implement various documents such as management plans, procedures, safe work instructions, policies, forms, flowcharts, registers, matrices, etc. Skill and Experience 5 years' experience in a similar role Experience in an underground metalliferous mining environment Experience in ICAM investigations or equivalent Injury Management and return to work experience Qualifications or experience in auditing (desirable) Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office and formatting skills Knowledge and understanding of INX (desirable) Proficient written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail and ability to produce quality reports and documents Good time management skills, organised and able to work autonomously Qualifications and Licences – minimum requirements Diploma in Work Health and Safety Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Current and valid C-Class driver's licence What We Offer Lifestyle roster Great company culture and working environment Fantastic opportunity to join a small growing company The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening and provide a National Police Clearance.
