Could you be our next Safety Advisor? The Safety Advisor is responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations in the workplace and implementing measures to ensure workplace safety as well as administering the WHS framework/systems and providing coaching, training, and guidance on workplace safety matters to internal stakeholders.
What can you expect day to day? Ensure a safe working environment for all team members.Identify hazards and risks in the workplace and take appropriate actions to address them.Ensure that all injuries, incidents, and/or hazards are reported and treated immediately.Communicate all WHS issues to team members and liaise with Management on resolutions.Lead Consultative Committee meetings and develop a lead safety culture on site.Compliance & Risk Management Perform and document risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are allocated and implemented to minimize risk.Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for work procedures and implement them in the workplace.Coordinate incident reporting and undertake investigations to determine root causes and appropriate corrective actions.Undertake risk assessments of all onsite equipment and of new equipment.Training & Development Assist with workplace safety training, including delivering one-on-one and small group training.Ensure specific training for operational team members is undertaken and documented.Coordinate ad-hoc assessments of competencies to maintain training competency levels.Maintain and continuously improve the content, delivery, and assessment of training programs.Ensure all training records are properly maintained and updated according to Company policies and procedures.Develop and maintain the training platform, ensuring training records are up to date.Lead compliance training across all areas on the site.Incident Management & Safety Inspections Coordinate site safety inspections, including checking fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and alarm systems.Maintain first aid facilities, including conducting routine audits of first aid supplies.Assist in developing injury and incident prevention strategies.Issue and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and records.Health & Rehabilitation Coordinate and book medical appointments for injured workers.Attend medical appointments and liaise with medical and rehabilitation providers.Ensure site compliance regarding First Aid Officers and Fire Wardens.To be successful in this role, you will have: Certificate IV in WHS (or equivalent)Proven experience as a Safety Advisor, or similar role, ideally in the manufacturing industry.Ability to maintain an enthusiastic approach to work, promote teamwork, and create an environment of trust and confidentiality.Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and codes.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Join Hewitt for the Opportunity of a Lifetime: Competitive Remuneration Package.Ongoing Professional Development.Access to our 24/7 Employee Assistance Provider, For You & Your Family.Hewitt is committed to the goals of equal opportunity employment.
