Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia (RMHC NA) provides essential services to families with seriously ill children. We are a unique and special Charity where joy, laughter, learning, and community is brought together by children from all walks of life.
We are pleased to offer an exciting part-time opportunity for an Education Coordinator based in Darwin. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the Ronald McDonald Learning Program , which supports children recovering from serious illness or injury by helping them catch up on their education after prolonged hospital stays and absences from school.
This position involves managing a caseload of students who are receiving one-on-one tutoring support as they transition back to school. While the Education Coordinator does not conduct tutoring, they facilitate the assessment, administration, and coordination of tutoring services, including matching students with qualified tutors and monitoring their progress. The role may be ideal for individuals with both learning support and administrative experience.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee student administration, including referral facilitation, eligibility determination, organising psychometric testing, communication with schools and families, and monthly reporting. Coordinate Independent Contractor Agreements for tutoring services. Manage tutor administration, including recruitment, retention, invoice approval, and ensuring compliance with program standards. Monitor student and tutor administration activities, including Student Learning Plans (SLPs), to ensure effectiveness. Maintain communication and collaboration with students, families, schools, tutors, and healthcare professionals. Manage student records and database administration. Coordinate professional development opportunities for teachers and tutors, including delivering the RMHC EdMed program (online). Engage with the community through fundraising initiatives and events (e.g., Silly Sock Days). Advertise, process applications, and manage annual scholarships for senior secondary students. Support ad-hoc operational and community engagement projects as required. A proactive and positive attitude, with a strong commitment to advocating for students' needs within the complex intersection of education and health. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a genuine passion for working in a children's charity. Ability to independently develop, plan, and implement personalized student learning plans, using student needs, school reports, and specialist assessments. Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team. Knowledge of and commitment to child protection, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), and privacy legislation. Experience in education, social work, community services. Desired Criteria: Registration as a Teacher in Queensland or Northern Territory is highly desired. Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector is desirable but not essential. Position Type: This is a part-time position, with flexibility regarding the days worked.
