About the Role *These are Fixed term positions until 31st of December 2025* In this position, you'll be responsible for various road maintenance and civil construction tasks, including inspections, hazard rectification, and manual labour, all while adhering to safety and quality protocols. Emergency response and overtime are part of the job, with potential travel within the state. While based in the Loddon Mallee Region, occasional work from other locations across Victoria may be necessary. Standard hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, but overtime, travel, and after-hours callouts may occur as needed.
You will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties:
Perform a variety of road, roadside and bridge maintenance activities under general supervision, ensuring that quality, environmental and safety practices are observed and adhered to at all times.Operate a variety of plant safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures.Install signs and traffic control devices in accordance with traffic management plans, under general supervision.Construct and maintain other road and roadside furniture, and other minor civil works and safety improvements in accordance with best practices and procedures.Respond to emergencies under general supervision.Exercise judgement in effectively scheduling and prioritising own work activities to achieve required outcomes.Work effectively within a team and ask others for assistance as required.Effectively present information in a clear and logical manner using terminology appropriate for the audience.Key Selection Criteria To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge and skills in project delivery, critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, continuous improvement, and adherence to policies and guidelines. They should be capable of executing tasks against traffic management plans, seeking resolution of problems within established guidelines, contributing ideas for improvement, understanding and applying relevant policies, and actively developing their own capabilities while supporting team development.
Personal Attributes On a personal level, the candidate will be someone who works collaboratively, shares information, and steps in to help others when needed. They will also demonstrate flexibility, adaptability to changing priorities, and self-awareness regarding their emotional responses and personal strengths and weaknesses, utilising feedback from supervisors for self-assessment.
