Budja Budja Aboriginal Co-Op is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service. The Budja Budja Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd. was established by the CEO and Elder, Tim Chatfield, in 1999. Its aim is to deliver a range of cultural, medical, health and wellbeing services to both the local Indigenous and non-Indigenous community. Budja Budja is the Traditional Aboriginal name for Halls Gap. The Clinic is in the heart of the Gariwerd/Grampians National Park, in Country shared by Djab Wurrung and Jardwadjali Traditional Owner Groups.
The Opportunity
We seek an enthusiastic, bright and dynamic person, who is team-orientated, to join our friendly and supportive team in our Medical Clinics located in Ararat and Halls Gap. We are looking for an experienced RN Practice Nurse who is passionate about patient education and has excellent communication skills. This is a part-time position from 0830-1700, with no after hours or weekend work.
The Role
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Wound care Venepuncture Recalls and Reminders Triage management Immunisations Health Assessments Treatment room assistance as required Patient education, support and building links to the community Stock maintenance and ordering Building relationship with Indigenous community Required Knowledge and Experience
The successful applicant will have:
Current AHPRA Registration Background working in a busy General Practice and/or primary health setting Experience in Chronic Disease Management and Health Assessments an advantage The ability to perform all general practice nurse duties, such as immunisations, procedure assistance, wound dressing, stock ordering, etc. Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care to people with complex needs or persons that come from a range of backgrounds and age demographics Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, with the skills to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines Ability to manage within a workplace setting with fluctuating levels of demand. Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to respond to patients' needs in a friendly manner A team focus and flexible approach to work The ability to manage reminder and recall systems effectively Experience with Medical Director (an advantage) About you
The applicant must be passionate about achieving positive outcomes, highly empathetic, and culturally competent. You should be able to build effective relationships with all stakeholders and take a holistic approach to assessing clients. You should be capable of supporting patients to understand their condition, treatment, and prevention.
