This is a full-time continuing position with salary in the range $111,154.58 - $124,619.84 (HEW 8), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

About This OpportunityThe Resilience, Health, Safety and Wellness Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the Library's adherence to UQ's health, safety, and wellness standards. This position involves providing expert advice, supporting risk management initiatives, and driving the implementation of UQ's HSW strategic priorities. You will collaborate with central divisions, such as UQ Health, Safety, and Wellness and Governance and Risk, to maintain consistency and address University-wide priorities. This role offers an opportunity to lead innovative projects and positively impact the workplace culture within the Library.
Key responsibilities will include:
Health, Safety, and Risk Management:
Provide advice and recommendations on work health and safety legislation.
Manage and implement OHS management systems, including risk assessments, incident reporting, and disaster management planning.
Incident Management and Investigation: Oversee incident reporting and investigations, developing and monitoring remedial action plans.
Establish mechanisms for comprehensive incident, injury, and hazard reporting.
Training, Culture Development, and Collaboration: Manage, develop, and deliver OHS training. Coach and mentor staff to foster a positive safety culture.
Serve as Secretary to the Library HSW Committee and represent the Library on UQ committees and project groups.
About YouEssential Postgraduate qualifications or relevant experience in occupational health and safety.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation and standards.
Proven ability to review and analyse complex information from a risk perspective and provide concise summaries.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on building relationships and influencing stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to drive significant positive outcomes through personal involvement in relevant programs.
Desirable Significant experience in implementing and managing health, safety, and wellness programs within a university or large government setting.
Strong understanding of university operations, including specific risks associated with library operations and collections.
Leadership and Change Management: Proven ability to lead change initiatives and foster a positive safety culture.
You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including criminal history and education checks.
