About the Position
We are seeking a Research Scientist to join the R&D team at Cartherics. Reporting to the Group Leader, this role will assist primarily with hands-on in vivo experimental work as well as in vitro experiments to support various projects in the R&D pipeline.
Key Duties
The successful applicant will work closely with all members of Cartherics and the R&D team, and will be expected to:

Design, perform, implement and optimize in vivo cancer xenograft studies.
Perform molecular biology and in vitro functional bioassays relevant to R&D projects, including mammalian tissue culture.
Apply scientific knowledge experience to guide research directions, troubleshoot challenges and interpret experimental data.
Review test data/results for reporting by required deadlines.
Maintain accurate, complete, legible and concurrent records of work performed in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and relevant databases. Prepare reports for the Company for all research and development activities.
Communicate and present work regularly in team meetings and to the wider biotech and science community.
Assist in housekeeping activities within the R&D for continued smooth operations.
Other duties as assigned by the CEO or CSO.

Skills and Experience
To support this, the following skills and experience are considered essential for this role:

A qualification (PhD) in a life sciences discipline in one of the following areas: immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry or cell biology. Cell and gene biology and therapy is a desirable area of expertise.
Technical expertise and proficiency in animal studies, tissue culture, molecular biology techniques (e.g., CRISPR, gene editing), cell-based assays, flow cytometry and other immunology or biochemical assays.
Strong research background with experience in designing, conducting and analysing experimental research in the relevant fields.
Data analysis and experience in statistical analysis and interpreting biological data.
Sound communication skills with ability to present findings and write scientific publications, reports and contribute to grants proposal.
Organizational skills required for data management and documentation, protocols and standard operating procedures.
