About the role Research & Evaluation, incorporating ASERNIP-S (R&E, inc. ASERNIP-S) is the research branch of RACS that conducts health technology assessments (HTA) and health policy related research for national and international clients and decision makers. Clinical evidence synthesis and evaluations are an essential part of the multi-disciplinary research process. Research reports and products that we produce have high impact on the health policy both in Australia and internationally. The research officer/ senior research officer works as part of ASERNIP-S research team responsible for the completion of nominated HTA and other research projects, producing high quality research reports to inform health policy and facilitate medical decision-making.
Research officer/ Senior research officer Ongoing contract Research Audit & Academic Surgery, ASERNIP-S Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Kent Town, South Australia 37.5 hours, 1.0 FTE Skill and experience Depending on the skill level and experience, eligible candidates may be appointed at either an entry level (research officer) or a senior level (senior research officer).
For appointment at the research officer level, candidates should have:
Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based medicine and systematic reviews, including literature searches, critical appraisal of clinical evidence, and data extraction and synthesis. Hands-on experience in data analytic techniques, probability theories, and statistical modelling. Demonstrated understanding of health economic frameworks, models, techniques, outputs and outcomes. Proficient in data analytics software (e.g. Excel, R etc.) For appointment at the senior research officer level, candidates should meet the above criteria, as well as the following:
Hands-on experience in conducting health economic modelling work.
Demonstrated understanding of health systems (Australia or other jurisdictions) and its costing mechanism/structure.
Demonstrated skills in using health economic evaluation packages (TreeAge, R etc.) to conduct model-based evaluations.
