The Clinical Infections Research Group is looking for a dynamic and driven Research Nurse/Research Assistant to join our team.This exciting new position will involve overseeing clinical research tasks, with an initial focus on a clinical trial under the direction of a senior post-doc. As the role evolves, the Research Nurse will also assist in coordinating additional studies, contributing to the group's growth and success.This role is for an initial period of one year at 0.8-1 FTE, (job share will be considered) with potential for extension. The majority of working time will be on site, at RCH and MCRI.About your new teamOur group conducts cutting-edge research aimed at enhancing the diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of children who present to the hospital with common illnesses. We strive to better understand these conditions, the hospital experience for both patients and families, and to ensure that our practices are evidence-based and aligned with the highest standards.Directly linked to the Royal Children's Hospital Hospital-in-the-Home (HITH) department, our mission is to ensure children get home safely and quickly. Under the leadership of A/Prof Penelope Bryant, an Infectious Diseases physician and Head of HITH, the group includes clinicians, post-docs, and research assistants focused on a diverse range of clinical, non-clinical, and wet lab projects.Your responsibilities include:Day to day co-ordination and management of clinical research studiesParticipant Recruitment & Consent: Engage with patients and families on hospital wards to recruit participants for clinical trials.Patient & Family Follow-Up: Ensure continuity of care and support for families involved in the research.Scientific Writing & Ethics: Contribute to drafting research protocols, ethics applications, and grant submissions.Collaboration: Work closely with team members, clinical staff, and research stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of studies.What we need from you:Degree/Honours qualification in Nursing with an appropriate level of experience in clinical research OR Degree/Honours in Science or related discipline with an appropriate level of experience in a clinical setting.6+ years expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation, ideally in a hospital ward setting, or equivalent.Experience in planning, conducting and coordination of clinical research projects and clinical trials.Experience in data and database management, data collection and analysis.Experience of randomised control trials.Who we areMurdoch Children's Research Institute envisions a transformative future for child health.
