We are seeking a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join the School of Chemistry and Physics, Faculty of Science.
The global race to electrify our transport systems in the pursuit of reduced carbon emissions has led to a rapid increase in the deployment of lithium-ion batteries. Consequently, there is a lack of standards, regulation, and best practice available to Australian businesses and consumers to inform insurance risk for safe deployment and use of lithium-ion batteries, specifically to mitigate fire risk as well as make informed decisions around battery end-of-life considerations. The Project Fire Safety for Electric Vehicles and Micro-mobility – a best practice assessment will involve working with an international consortium of experts to assess the current global state-of-play for safe deployment, use, and storage of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicle and micro-mobility applications to generate guidance, recommendations, and best practices that will enable improved safety in Australia. QUT is at the forefront of research and innovation which transforms industry and society. We strive to find the best people to make the world a better place – and we'd love you to be a part of it. If you are an industry professional with strong experience outside tertiary education in research and development, safety, or best practice relevant to the discipline, or hold equivalent accreditation or standing we encourage you to apply.
About us QUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a 'real world' focus. We are an ambitious and collaborative institution that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.
The School of Chemistry and Physics is leading teaching and research advances at the frontiers of the physical and chemical sciences to solve real-world scientific challenges. We cover a diverse range of research topics, ranging from the incredibly small (such as atoms and single molecules) to the exceptionally large (supermassive black holes). The school conducts frontier research investigating not only the fundamental aspects of matter but also how it interacts with light, radiation, or plasma, and exploits the interaction for transformative materials research that enables real-world devices and applications.
