About the Role Join Melbourne Climate Futures, an interdisciplinary initiative of the University of Melbourne, dedicated to addressing the global challenges and opportunities presented by climate change.
Situated within the vibrant Melbourne Connect precinct, this role offers the chance to collaborate with distinguished academics across law, finance, economics, and health sciences.
The Research Fellow will contribute to groundbreaking research, knowledge dissemination, and stakeholder engagement, with a particular focus on sustainable finance, corporate climate action, and regulatory frameworks.
This is a unique opportunity for a talented and driven researcher to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, produce impactful research outputs, and play an integral part in advancing climate change policy and practice at a global level.
Your responsibilities will include: Conducting and analysing interdisciplinary research across fields such as law, finance, and economics, preparing high-quality reports, submissions, and publications to support climate-related initiatives.
Collaborating with academic leaders and stakeholders, coordinating workshops, roundtables, and seminars to advance research, engagement, and knowledge exchange.
Managing communications and dissemination activities, contributing to the Melbourne Climate Futures website and other channels to enhance visibility of the University's climate research.
Building and maintaining effective working relationships, contributing to administrative and collegial activities within Melbourne Law School and Melbourne Climate Futures, and supporting the strategic objectives of the initiative.

Your ability to communicate with clarity and precision, both in writing and verbally, enable you to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, fostering productive relationships and facilitating impactful knowledge exchange.
Your proactive and self-motivated approach, coupled with a commitment to teamwork, ensures that you contribute meaningfully to the shared goals of Melbourne Climate Futures and the broader University community.
Above all, you bring enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by climate change.
You also have: Strong academic qualifications, including an undergraduate degree with a focus on climate change and a Master's degree in a relevant field.
A PhD in a climate-related discipline is required for higher-level appointments (A.6 and above).
Demonstrated expertise in interdisciplinary climate research, with a solid understanding of the social, environmental, technological, and economic dimensions of climate change impacts and responses.
Proven ability to produce high-quality research outputs, including academic publications, policy analyses, and other written materials, particularly within the realm of climate change policy.
Exceptional communication and organisational skills, enabling effective engagement with diverse stakeholders and the successful coordination of multiple tasks, including workshops and collaborative initiatives.
